    Pre-Launching on PH. Confused 🤔 Help?

    Hey wonderful people. So here's the situation. We've been working on our product for some time, and it's a massive product. So we decided to do a "soft launch" with just some of the features we offer. We barely have an audience right now so I'm trying to gather some momentum. I was wondering how pre-launching works on ProductHunt. This launch is planned on Sep. 21st. Should I putting up the product on PH now? Do I have to set a launch date here? What if the launch date changes for whatever reason? Any insight would be amazing! I'm also planning to run some LinkedIn ads to a "waiting list" landing page on the website.     Hey Fuad, we got 4th place with 300+ votes with 2 weeks of prep time. Sign ups, usage rate, visitors all have spiked up beyond our expectation. Our prelaunch event: Set KPI first 1. #of followers - My goal was 100. This is important because your followers will be notified when you create and follow a product or discussion. 2. Knowledge points - This shows that you are providing value to the community, and more often than not, this is correlated to the # of followers on PH. How to achieve the KPI goal? Provide immediate value to the community. 1. Use a product, leave genuine reviews 2. Upvote a product, leave feedback 3. Join the discussion, leave your insights 4. Make connection and build allies It is a very manual yet rewarding work. Be as authentic as possible, and be transparent. The first thing is to do what you are doing right now. Creating a discussion, ask for help. Good luck!

    @djteknokid as someone in similar shoes as Fuad this is very helpful. One thing I have noticed early on is that everyone seems super friendly and helpful in here.

    @djteknokid Thank you so much for this. It's super helpful. I always try my best to interact with people and many times I even form lasting friendships doing it. It's an amazing thing. I guess my main question is do I create the launch on ProductHunt now? As in submit the product now and generate some interest and then launch? I'm not sure how the submission process works or how something gets "hunted." I read the articles here but still a little unsure of the process. Thanks again David I really appreciate your response.

    @nicholasjohnmartin I know right?! everyone is so helpful I really was not expecting it. Every reply I've gotten has been helpful. What are you working on Nick? Maybe we can exchange some ideas and help each other out.

    @djteknokid @the_growth_dino really good questions that I've been juggling as well. I think Hunters do it differently. Some projects are already "launched" and available for the public to try out and some are not. I think that doesn't matter too much. Maybe think of the Product Hunt launch as you launching it to the PH community. Doesn't mater if it's already live or not. I'm sure there are lot's of Hunters that really go live on the PH launch date as well which is cool. Our tool is currently live and we are using PH to kind of re-launch it and get it in front of other like-minded people from the PH community to get valuable feedback.

    @the_growth_dino we are working on re-launching one of our tools that convert PDF files to a responsive HTML format. The tool is already live and has had some signups in the last 2 years. As part of our two-week Hackathon we are improving it and relaunching it to get more feedback and validation. Our plan is to create a Ship page here on PH and hopefully get listed as upcoming launches (not sure how to get that done yet). I am trying to build a little buzz around the upcoming PH launch using Ship. We only have 2 weeks so it will be limited but we will try. I'm still not sure how the Ship page ties in with the Product page on PH. Here is our Ship page (need to redo the video as it's 2 years old and too long): https://www.producthunt.com/upco... Sorry for the long rant, to sum it up, sounds like we are in the same boat. I'm hoping to use Ship to build a PH pre-launch engagement to help get a stronger PH launch on the day.

    @vishal_godhwani thank you so much Vishal! I will make sure I let you m kw when we're close to launch. One thing I am still confused about is can I set a launch date on PH? Like when I submit a product for approval, is it launched as soon as it's approved or can I set a launch date so I can prepare? I went through the launch guide. It could not really find an answer to that.
