This is an important problem that most AI founders overlook. I believe long-term memory is currently the bottleneck for AI's next phase of growth. As AI becomes more multi-agent across long duration of complex compartmentalized tasks, retaining that context window for long duration, improving info retrieval accuracy, and lowering the response latency will be key breakthroughs needed for AI infra startups.. There are a few products that I know of that are working on these problems: Letta / MemGPT (https://www.letta.com/) – Originated from UC Berkeley Labs, MemGPT is an open-source framework for building stateful AI apps. Letta is the commercial form of it. Zep AI (https://www.getzep.com/) – focuses on creating intelligent agents that learn from user interactions. By retaining user-specific information, Zep AI enhances personalization and maintains long-term context retention. Mem0 (https://mem0.ai/) – The memory layer for AI models, enabling them to remember user preferences and past interactions. Cognee AI (https://www.cognee.ai/) – An AI memory engine that mimics human cognition to enhance AI data processing and context understanding. Tanka (https://www.tanka.ai/) – the first business messenger with AI long-term memory, delivering fast and precise smart replies based on past chat history, business context and connected apps. Circlemind (https://circlemind.co/) – Latest YC batch. Focuses on enhancing traditional RAG by leveraging knowledge graphs and PageRank algorithms.
