I would like to have personal experience without restrictions but I am in Europe. 🥲
No wonder that we are behind.
Sora's AI video capabilities seem solid but not groundbreaking compared to the rapid advancements we've seen in the past year. Will be interesting to see how they continue developing it and if they can differentiate themselves more in the increasingly crowded generative AI video space. What features stood out to you from the demo?
@philipp_zettl I’d love to hear your thoughts as well, but personally, I found Sora’s demo a bit disappointing. The earlier videos we saw were of much higher quality, with minimal visual issues. However, the results presented during the demo seemed noticeably off in comparison.
@felix_sattler I completely agree with the noticeable difference between the demo and the expectations that oAI set over the past months. It doesn't seem like the quality improved since the announcement back in February (see examples at https://openai.com/index/sora/).
Considering the hype they created holding it back until post US election at least I personally expected sora to be more coherent with prompts and physics than their competitors.
Heck, to be quite frank as a consumer I don't see any huge difference between it and other alternatives such as pyramid-flow-miniflux (https://huggingface.co/rain1011/...) or CogVideoX-5B (https://huggingface.co/THUDM/Cog...).
Now apart from that I obviously have the issue too, that I can't access it because I'm living in the EU. But I can imagine why they pull this move. The European AI act will be enforced soon which might force them to comply to some regulations, which they maybe still need to map and understand, but in the meantime they still wanted to push it out to the rest of the world, to not be the last and because they promised it back in February.
