Launching Designer Hikes community on Product Hunt.

Earlier this year I started an open-source nonprofit community to get designers of all sorts together to go on nature hikes. The idea is simple, we all spend too much time in front of the screens and need to get out in nature more + we also need to meet more people in real life. I have already organized a few hikes around my town, but I would like this to become a platform that anyone can use to organize their own hikes in nature. It's just a place to connect with other designers with one purpose. I'm now thinking of giving this a boost again and launching it on Product Hunt. I would love to know what designers think and if they like to support the cause and start organizing hikes in their towns. You can find out more on https://designerhikes.com

Great initiative! I just wish the same existed for digital marketing professionals (maybe your next project?...)!

It sounds like a fantastic initiative to bring designers together and promote both physical health and real-world networking! Given the sedentary nature of design work, combining it with nature hikes is a great way to recharge creatively, build relationships, and connect with like-minded professionals. Launching **Designer Hikes** on **Product Hunt** could really help you gain exposure and grow your community. Here are some suggestions and thoughts that might help boost your efforts: 1. **Highlight the Benefits** – Emphasize both the physical and mental benefits of the hikes. Designers are often sitting for long hours, and promoting the positive impact of nature on creativity and stress reduction will resonate with many. 2. **Share Personal Stories** – Personal testimonials or stories about how these hikes have helped connect designers or sparked new creative ideas can help make the cause more relatable and engaging. 3. **Community Engagement** – Make sure your platform encourages users to share their experiences after hikes. Perhaps a hashtag, blog posts, or a dedicated section where people can upload photos or share insights from their hikes would add more value and keep the community active. 4. **Easy Hike Organization** – One of the most appealing aspects of your initiative is that it's a simple, low-barrier-to-entry way for designers to meet in person. If you can ensure that organizing a hike on your platform is easy (think automatic calendar syncing, local event discovery, or automated reminder systems), this could help your cause grow even more. 5. **Leverage Designer Communities** – Reach out to online designer communities, whether on Slack, Discord, or social media, and encourage them to share the initiative with their members. Word of mouth and community support will help spread the message. 6. **Incentivize Supporters** – Offering small rewards or recognition for those who organize and attend hikes could incentivize more people to take part. Maybe badges, profiles on the site, or shout-outs could be fun.
