Is working remotely sustainable?

For those of you who have been working remotely for more than a year - will you ever reconsider getting a new job that will require you to work on-site?

As a founder building a product that helps remote teams communicate like they're in the same room, I think about this a lot.
I don't think the question is about remote vs. in-person but more about the style of communication. I hear a lot from fellow startup founders working remotely that they cannot imagine building their companies with async communication because the speed of communication = the speed of innovation. But I do often hear from individual contributors working for bigger companies that well-organized async communication works best for them (daily syncs, weekly reviews, etc.). What do you think?
