When building my Product I had one thing in mind: make it free-to-use. Let's say I almost went there, but here's the main issues with AI nowadays:
AI is still a new innovation. We can't even imagine how much it costs to mantain a big infrastructure for a LLM or other MLs. I think that in the future we might see a price decrease (we already seen it with the latest API models from OpenAI like 'gpt-3.5-turbo').
We should also consider that there are better options if our goals are to decrease prices: OpenSource. There are many models out there that can easily compete with GPT-4. If you use one of those models in an infrastructure like HuggingFace, we can lower those prices even further.
That's what I'm considering with CodeWiz, I think that in less than 6 months I'll be able to integrate an OpenSource model that can decrease my pricing plans.
Still I offer a freemium option by investing money from my own wallet.
Honestly speaking, I think there is nothing can be defined as truly free AI tool, cuz the vital thing in AI called arithmetic has a cost.
@sylvia_sheng I agree. It costs those companies a lot to develop an AI product. Like OpenAI, they burn $700K each day, and it is still increasing. According to Analytics India Magazine, their income can't cover the huge costs at all. If they just keep the business model like this, they would have the risk of bankrupt in 2024. So, of course, a truly free AI is good for individual users, but it will also limit the growth of AI companies.
