    Is Product Hunt an effective platform for launching developer tools targeted at teams & businesses?

    I am searching for success stories to motivate me to launch my product on Product Hunt. Although some friends of mine have launched their apps and achieved favorable daily rankings, they didn't attract a significant number of users. I'm interested in gathering more information about this.

    Not really. I don't think there are a lot of developers are active on PH. Most of PHer are product managers, indiehackers and marketers. For developer tools, github should be the largest community.

    Personally, I didnt launch any developer related tools but I think product hunt is generally good for new products and indie developers to get early stage users. Most product hunt users are start up founders and investors and they like to check out new and creative projects. I would recommend you to give a try :)

    ProductHunt is a perfect place to launch a product that helps other people to build their own startups because of the entrepreneurship community. Dev tools is definitely in that category!

    I haven't personally launched any developer tools, but in my opinion, Product Hunt is generally beneficial for new products.Instead, I'd recommend considering Twitter and strategically planning your launch there.

    Depends on what you're launching. If it has a strong news worthiness you can get a huge spike. I see #1 products on produthunt stay they got 3k visitors to their website. Which Is crazy low tbh. But these products were often pumped on linked in for votes etc. so not really won because they are news worthy or good ideas. A small opensource project can get 100k visitors in one day and 250k visitors across 3 days. From after effects of a launch. If they get featured else where online after the producthunt launch etc. So try to ride the wave. Setup press releases to get the word out. sync with Hackernews, designer news etc etc. try tech blogs etc etc. Sync it all up and ride the long tail of internet fame. But make sure your product is something new.

    @sentry_co Some products may not be entirely new in concept, but they offer valuable differences or improvements compared to existing, renowned alternatives. Does it still belong to "something new" ?

    @comiscience Depends. The differentiator factor is so important. Adding value is not enough anymore. Making a chatbot for websites that has some minor addition the other 10000 chatbots for website does isn't going to make a dent. The problem is that these products are so easy to make. So you get product inflation. The barrier to entry is too low. If you make a product where the barrier to entry is high then you have less competition and the product gets its 5 minutes in the spotlight

    @comiscience hey Beau 👋 I had the opportunity to contribute to multiple launches for dev-first, open-source products, as a Maker and a Hunter. Product Hunt definitely is a great place to launch a dev tool. think SEO. according to Ahrefs, Product Hunt has a Domain Rating of 91 and, according to Similarweb, it gets 4.8M MUV. from my previous experiences, Product Hunt helped raise awareness and enabled early traction (reached 1K GH stars, hit 2.5K DUV and 10% CVR). IMHO the question isn’t if you should launch there, it’s how. there's no need to overthink. keep it simple, and enjoy your launch day. hope it helps!
