Is it true that many makers use unfair methods and artificial inflations to launch their product?

Today, I launched my first product and noticed that the votes for some makers are increasing very rapidly. This is not the first time; the same thing happened a month ago when my friend launched his project. It seems to me that they are using vote manipulation, but the site owners don't seem to be reversing these votes.
