Is it important for you to receive feedback from management more than once a year?

Definitely, yes! Do I think it has to be constructive feedback? Not necessarily. Often we overemphasize how important negative feedback is but instead it's more important for your manager to give you positive feedback to let you know what you're doing that is above and beyond and helping the team on a regular basis. "Excellence is not the opposite of failure: we can never create excellent performances by only fixing poor ones. Mistake fixing is just a tool to prevent failure."
