  • Is Having an Audience Mandatory for a Successful SaaS?

I’m wondering if having an audience is truly a shortcut. For example, if your audience is on Product Hunt but you’re developing software for gardeners, it might not be the best fit. What are your thoughts on this?

It is not mandatory but it definitely helps build an audience, that can accelerate growth and provide valuable feedback

@andreas_sohns have you built an audience to launch Gleans? If yes, on which social media have you done it?

While an audience can accelerate your success, starting with a solid product and a clear value proposition is just as important.

Having an audience can provide a head start, but a successful SaaS can also grow through partnerships, referrals, and exceptional user experience.

Building an audience can help with early adoption, but it's more crucial to ensure your SaaS offers unique value and solves a real problem.

Having an audience can ease the launch process, but a well-designed product that meets a need will eventually find its users.

@luke_wright1 I saw that you craft brands for startups. I assume you help them create an audience. What is the most successful platform for this purpose?
Having a targeted audience can definitely be beneficial for a SaaS company, as it can help drive initial traction and feedback. However, it's important to remember that success can come in many forms, and sometimes thinking outside the box and reaching new, unexpected audiences can lead to even greater success. It's all about finding the right balance and being open to exploring different avenues for growth. We are building a marketing AI called Contentify AI. It's free and easy to set up. Defining a clear customer avatar is crucial. Understanding your ideal customer helps tailor your product, marketing, and services to meet their needs, which drives success.

Having an audience definitely helps, like having a GPS for your SaaS journey - but if they're guiding you to the North Pole when you're all about sunflowers, maybe a detour is in order? #AudienceAlignmentAdventure

Great question, @alexandre_schouwey Having an audience definitely helps, but it’s more about having the right audience. If your product is for gardeners, you'll need to target where gardeners hang out, like gardening forums or social media groups. Building an audience in your specific niche can be more beneficial than just having a general following. It’s all about reaching the people who will truly benefit from your SaaS. Have you started building a community around your product yet? @alexandre_schouwey

It really depends on your target audience. Having an existing audience can be a great launchpad, but only if they are the right fit for your product. The key is deeply understanding your ideal customer and finding the channels where they already congregate, whether that's an existing audience you've built or specific online communities. Quality over quantity when it comes to your initial user base!
