  • Is a home office a must-have for remote work? πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸš€

I've read some research suggesting that when we work from home, it's important to choose one specific place to work from and stick to it. The idea is to avoid being constantly reminded of work in every corner of our home, even when we're off the clock. πŸ˜… How important is it for you to have your own office at home? I have a dedicated workspace, but I must admit I don't work from it every day. πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸš€

A dedicated space in your home for work is great. It should be a space where you do nothing else but work, so that it is easy to get into flow once you sit there. Your mind easily associates being in different spaces with being in different states of mind.

@maurizioisendoorn I agree! I really try to stick to that, although I often enjoy working from the terrace, which isn't my actual office. πŸ˜…

It is not a must-have but I would highly recommend it. The thing is our brain is wired in a very specific way and it connects different places with different feelings you have or different moods you are in. Let's say you use your living room for relaxation and watching TV or any other hobbies you might have. Now put a desk in the corner and try to work there. If you are very disciplined (and that is a very big IF), you can 100% pull it off. Unfortunately most people can't. Most people are procrastinators. And procrastinators do what they do best; procrastinate. That is why it's soo important to have a space at home that is intended only for work - that way, when you enter the room, your brain knows it's show time and it automatically switches to work mode. Great question. I have a dedicated workspace in my home. However, I understand that not everyone has the same privilege. Personally, I find it challenging to work and sleep in the same room because it blurs the boundary between work and rest. This separation helps me maintain a sense of completion at the end of the workday.

@viola_s I totally get that, Viola! I really try to avoid working from rooms that I usually use for relaxation.
