"If you want to make money on social media you have to TRY and make money on social media" Thoughts?

It's such a simple phrase, yet I could talk for hours about it. Most people on social media, especially in the creative niche only care about creating and HATE to promote themselves. What is your take on that?

I would say "don't waste your time". Social media is not as good for sales as it is for customer service. Proof? Ask yourself when was the last time you opened Twitter to try to find a sale for a new (product here). Quite likely, you have never done that. When people research and buy products, they use search engines. When they want to complain about a bad service or a bad product, they use social media.

@simplytedel I actually disagree but I guess it also depends on the niche your product is in! I know a lot of people that make 5 figures a month through selling on social media. And I’m not talking about influencers and brand deals, but people who develops their own products and services and figured our how to market them this way. But I agree that SEO is just as important!

@jumicreative If you know people who make that much money in social media, my guess is that they are in the entertainment sector. Social media is good for entertainment. Still, you need to make sure they are not paying for advertising and they are not using Facebook groups before you accept the statement "I sell on social media" as valid.

@simplytedel no, those people are rather in the inspiration/motivation niche for content creators as well as the creative niche. :) They don’t use Facebook groups but of course they start building on top of social media (like email marketing for example) but social media is the main driver.
