If upvote is not the primary goal, what should be and how to get it?

We have launched and are about to launch a new product soon.
I know upvote is just one goal.
Some think that the goal should be an email list or user acquisition.

What are your thoughts on this?

Upvotes and reviews are more about your product's visibility and ranking, but they are not a guarantee that people will even open and try the product. I see people sometimes just write "Congratulations!", push the upvote button, and never give the product a try.

So upvotes and reviews are more in-platform metrics, but it's important to have metrics for what happens next. Like the amount of visitors, the number of new users, how much time they spend using your product, how many pages they open, etc., if you have any analytics systems for that. If you manage to get traffic from Product Hunt, it's a good idea to analyze this traffic thoroughly.
