Say it, would you like if machines understand emotions? I think it would be hilarious, finally I can show my frustration to my laptop.

I think it would be inevitable that eventually, machines will understand emotions like it now understand natural language.

That in fact already coming. We can argue if they "really" understand emotions. But with AI they do and they act on emotions. And this is the quintessential result and the same as with the humans
