How valuable is a recommendation from someone you know vs. complete strangers?

I value a recommendation from someone I know much more than from a random online review. Ultimately, they are all data points and I see recommendations from someone I know as bigger data points that carry more weight.

Of course, it depends on what exactly we need to get an opinion on. If it's a service, a product, a service, of course we collect opinions about it, we look at the reviews. If it's feedback from people we know - yes, that's valuable. If it's a review from an Ambassador, not always.  Not all celebrities use the products they advertise. Trust but verify).
