On Twitter, it's often advised against overusing hashtags as they can reduce readability. Only specific hashtags, like #buildinpublic, seem to effectively boost visibility. Meanwhile, on ProductHunt, hashtags appear to be less common. I'm relatively new to the PH and would love to hear others' thoughts on this.

You can determine the importance of feedback among cynics who pretend to be angry or among those who delve into topics that people least care about. However, it is best to avoid mixing these two social groups.

Track reach and engagement. Reach is the number of unique people who saw your hashtag, while engagement is the number of people who interacted with your hashtag in some way, such as by liking, commenting, or sharing a post.

Most social media platforms offer basic analytics tools that can help you track hashtag performance. For example, Twitter Analytics allows you to see impressions, reach, and engagement for your hashtags. Instagram Insights provides similar data, as well as insights into your audience demographics.

Use hashtag tracking tools. There are a number of third-party hashtag tracking tools available, which can provide more detailed insights into hashtag performance. These tools can track metrics such as: Total posts: How many posts used your hashtag? Unique users: How many unique users posted with your hashtag? Engagement: How many likes, comments, and shares did your hashtag receive? Reach: How many people's feeds did your hashtag show up in? Impressions: How many times did your hashtag get viewed (including repeat viewers)? Sentiment: What is the overall sentiment of the posts that use your hashtag?

Track your goals. What do you hope to achieve with your hashtag? Are you trying to increase brand awareness, drive traffic to your website, or generate leads? Once you know your goals, you can track the relevant metrics to see how well your hashtag is performing.

hashtags: tiny but mighty. they can amplify or clutter. so, how to measure? 📏 1. impressions: not just views. engagement matters. clicks, retweets, likes. 2. reach: the audience size. but focus on quality, not just quantity. 3. interactions per impression: the deeper metric. engagement rate per view. 4. lifespan: how long does your hashtag stay relevant? short-lived or evergreen? 5. competitors: keep an eye out. what are they hashtagging? 6. native analytics: both twitter and linkedin offer insights. leverage them. 7. tools: beyond native. think hashtagify, keyhole, or brand24. 8. context: what was happening when the hashtag peaked? events, news? 9. sentiment: not just numbers. what are people saying? 10. adapt: metrics are feedback, not verdicts. always room to refine. and, data's just a tool. the art lies in interpreting it. 🎨
