How many of you are happy with Product Hunt's algorithm?

For all the folks in the community who are active how many of you are happy with stance at PH on how the algorithm works - if there's a discretionary component to ranking which is based not on community interaction but on closed-door comments happening behind in the community then it feels pretty arbitrary. I have seen this discussion come up where lots of folks releasing get pings to get their product supported (through paid boost/engagement pods) - in the name of patronage. These so-called paid pods also use underhand tactics including trying to report products for unfair participation - whereas the same would very well apply to their own products. It's either a community-based or a transparent paid algorithm booster - but keep it fair guys. You are tearing down the trust of the community on which you have built up - it's important that the criteria holds true and these closed (so called) support groups are identified and banned. I would be open to criticism and also feedback on this - of course if this works in your favour you never raise this point. But if the umpire plays favourites it's no longer home ground for makers.

These need to be a bit more strict.

Wait, are you saying that when you launch, you can pay to get clicks? That is a very bad idea… and ethically it’s also very bad!
