    How do you take notes while listening to a podcast?

    Every day I spend some time listening to Japanese podcasts, writing down important vocabulary and sentences in my little notebook. However, I found it difficult to recap the written notes with the original clips. Guess I should probably try digital note-takers for better note review and management. Any recommendations for note-taking apps? Or feel free to share any effective ways to learn from podcasts!

    This question can be tricky as it depends on your situation when listening to the podcast. If you’re like me, you’re probably multitasking while listening to podcasts. I’d also recommend using a tool to help you remember key points and find specific info later. I am using Inspod, and my wife is an iOS lover and using Airr.

    There are not so many apps with direct feature to take notes from podcasts. An option is to pull the text version of the podcast if it was generated. I've only ever heard about a few of them, so do consider trying Inspod, Airr, NoteLedge, and other recommended options. Cheers and good luck with your search!

    There are Apps that have AI built in to make clips with transcriptions - I use Momento (https://app.momento.fm/). It's not perfect, but as a way to capture important moments in the Pod it could be useful for you.

    Airr is quite popular, but it’s only available for iOS. As an Android user, I’d like to share an app I discovered recently called Inspod, which also comes with a web version! I used to jot down my notes on paper, but it’s hard to review key points with the original clips. Then I found Inspod really helps because I could take notes while listening to podcasts, and organize all my notes in one place. You can create timestamps and note cards instantly by simply clicking a Sparkling button. No worries about losing knowledge, it's all saved there! Hope it helps. :)

    @jackie_liu Thanks for the recommendation! I haven't heard of both of apps you mentioned actually. Since I'm using Samsung, I will give Inspod a try! The timestamp feature sounds really appealing to me. Thanks!

    If you want to combine with multimedia resources, NoteLedge would be a decent option for you!

    I also learn Deutch with podcasts, especially during an MRT or train! I use the iOS note to record the sentence, but obviously, there is always some typo lol. Sometimes I use Inspod, it can note with the podcast, which is pretty easy for review how to pronounce~

    I've had a similar experience. I tend to use the Notes app on iPhone. I write a note in whichever file is open, then later on, I move it to a more relevant file. Hardly the ideal process. And of course, there's no link to the original podcast.

    @fdmw Same situation when it comes to hand-written notes. I used to write down the timecode of the podcast stream for rewind, but the repetitive process of searching the episode and draging to the exact moment of the note is pretty time-wasted.

    I learn Korean with my friend through podcasts. Inspod is quite a helpful app that provides users with an easy way to create unlimited notes online directly from podcasts.During the discussion, we used screenshots of the screen and marked the time. Thanks to Inspod, we are able to share online notes. I highly recommend Inspod to everyone who enjoys e-learning as I do.

    Hmmm, I usually wrote it down on a piece of paper or just a note-taking app online. I tend to write as much as I can in detail so that I would not need to refer back (since reopening the podcast and finding the section I needed takes loads of time), but it's impossible. I'm glad you asked this question as I found some answers from the comments that are worth trying. I will for sure try them out!!

    I would recommend "Inspod" the same as the above comments. You can add the timestamp and create your note which helps you easily recap your study and also can read your note everywhere via your phone. I use it to jot down new vocabulary that I found when watching videos on Youtube to learn languages and it's really useful and easy to use.
