My team meets for dinner monthly, but curious to hear how you do it... π§

We use a few things to help with remote team bonding: 1) Weekly 'donuts' pairings for casual 1:1 chats 2) Quarterly virtual happy hours with games/icebreakers 3) Sharing photos in Slack of weekend activities, pets, etc. 4) Async 'getting to know you' polls & surveys. The key is finding lightweight, optional ways to connect that fit into people's schedules! Monthly team dinners sound great too.

@emilygracethompson The polls sound fun! We do biweekly syncs with the whole team where we share some fun facts, similar to what you do! Thanks for your suggestions!
Definitely! Some things that have worked well for us: 1) 'Fun Fact Friday' threads in Slack where people share random tidbits about themselves 2) Dedicated 'watercooler' Slack channels for casual chats on topics like pets, food, travel etc 3) Virtual escape room events every quarter 4) Peer bonus system to recognize great work & extra effort. Agree that the key is making it easy, optional and enjoyable for folks to connect in light-touch ways!

imho this is an uphill battle. by allowing remote work, i think you have to sacrifice camaraderie for convenience. you can't have your cake and eat it too!
