How do you measure your own personal progress?

Depends on the task:
* if you're trying to be a better reader, have you read more books this year than last?
* If you're trying to build muscle, can you lift 5lbs more than last month?
Progress doesn't have to be huge leaps, a lot of times "slow and steady wins the race". Otherwise you find yourself jumping around too much and getting nothing done :-D
