Love this question. The advice we give new course creators is to focus on adding value vs. selling. Tactically this means freely sharing your insights, frameworks, advice in public so you can build trust and credibility. When you're ready to sell, add a PS or comment in your post that drives people to your new product or waitlist. By shifting your mindset from "marketing" to "adding value", you can now promote yourself without feeling cringey because you're sharing your knowledge.

Talk to your potential clients, not only sell. Try to understand their problems, and ask what they need. Then give something for free (ebook, even blog post) and you will become an expert who can be trusted. And it will sell by itself ;)

I try to solve a problem for them or give advice. I mention my product if it could be relevant to solving their problem.

Soft selling: Doing deep market research (interests, behaviors and so on) to provide personalized awareness and value to your target market. For example, copies like "Make your time valuable by automating your emails, that's what we do in email.io"
