I think you can still find work-life balance, or rather, it finds you. I do some mad sprints where I lock myself in the office for weeks, coming only out to go to sleep. But eventually, you have to pay the piper and will have to take a day or two to recuperate; otherwise, you severely burn out. I had one routine that worked well even during high-intensity periods: Set an 8-10h work schedule and prioritize important tasks early on 5:30 - 9 AM. After you are done work, do something you are passionate about, other than work: be it gaming, walking, going to the gym, pottery, etc. Then, spend some time with family or friends and then sleep. Your balance will be different than everyone else's, and I think the key is to find a routine that works for you.
