It's important to know what competitors are doing, but tracking them can eat up time. How do you efficiently stay aware of competitors without it becoming a major distraction? Any tools that have helped?

I think that monitoring the competition is especially important for the big companies, for the small ones at the beginning the initial research of the competitors is important to find your niche and offer something different or position your product in the market. But you don't have to watch them all the time, only sometimes and for SEO, add them to your tool. Moreover, if you operate in a crowded sector, you can be overwhelmed by too many alerts.
We just give it an hour or so every week or fortnight. This helps us in staying updated while not spending too much time in tracking competitors. No secret sauce, you know.

One way is to use Google Alerts. Set up alerts for your competitors' names, product names, and key phrases related to their business. Social media listening tools like Mention are also useful. They can track mentions of your competitors across social platforms. Another tip is to subscribe to your competitors' newsletters. This gives you a direct line to their announcements. By using these methods, you can stay informed with minimal time investment.

I use SEO tool like Semrush to run competitor analysis to check out their backlinks, promoted keywords, and their traffic.
