How do you collect testimonials before launching?

Social proof is a great way to show community trust to potential users/customers. Sometimes this can be done before launching a product e.g. in ProductHunt, or afterwards.

What's your technique on acquiring social proof before your product is even known to the public?

Great question. I would have a smaller “private beta” for a select few, gather feedback and testimonials and use these for a major launch
