We are looking into affiliate marketing, but we don't know how to get started. Give us some tips!

I ran a 5000 affiliate operation for an online product.

There are many types of affiliates:
* Influencer type with an audience of followers
* Producer type with an audience of followers, and an email list, even a product to sell
* Knowledge type.... they have a network, they know about related interests, but most probably they're not online, and don't know how to monetize their knowledge
* Traffic type, they are investors, and know how to invest money in advertising platforms
* The SEO type, their skills are ranking for a long tail keyword that drives them organic traffic.

Choose what you want.
I would start paying influencers to post your content. 
After you start the relationship, pitch them the idea about turning an affiliate.
Beware of SEO type affiliates, their content could potentially harm your brand.

Talking about this, establish rules for affiliates, and provide them support to the ways of promoting according to their type.

@beto_cervantes1 Hey thanks for your reply Alberto. But we don't have the capital to pay influencers right now. Instead, we want to work with them as affiliates. But it seems like everyone wants upfront payment these days.

Depending on the niche you could go to other type of social media and groups.
Or even go at SparkToro, so you can make a list of influencers, and research for their price for when you'll have budget for that.

If you have an affiliate platform you could reach out directly affiliates from related products to promote yours.
