I write down one or two simple tasks that I want to get done, then go take a break for a while. Usually when I return, I feel more motivated to tackle the task at hand since I've had time to consider it and it's no longer as daunting.

Split your day into quarters. Morning, Afternoon, Evening, & Night. Just because you messed up one quarter doesn't mean all other quarters have to be bad. I like to treat each quarter as a fresh start if I messed up a previous quarter.

Take a small break in order to reset and refocus. Write down your tasks and stick strictly to the schedule. :)

For me a 30 min reset works. I walk my dog or take a nap, make a coffee and look out the window, call a friend or a family member.

For me, if I'm working from home, going out and working from a cafe or library is very effective. In addition, when I clarify and list the things to do, it seems more complete and it becomes easier to take action.
