Using a cloud computer similar to Neverinstall would help you. In such platforms, an admin can easily collaborate with the employee and monitor their productivity. This would also help the teams to work on the same project effectively.

Someone could write a book on outsourcing software development - but essentially - they have different incentives to you (get paid vs get product market fit) - they are less motivated to solve any structural problems than you are - if you don't know exactly what you want or don't express it clearly, you will get something else - this is true for not just product decisions, but tech too, e.g. which tech choices they make - if you are not careful you will end up paying them to build things that you don't need because they were able to convince a non-technical person that it was necessary - if you don't interview the specific engineers that are assigned to your project then you may end up being misled about their skills or experience - This is not to say that you can't make it work, but outsourcing is a skill

@sentry_co Agree. It really depends on the knowledge base we have towards certain expertises. If we are not familiar with an expertise, it's better to meet physically so that I can make sure everything keeps on track.

great question! managing a remote team comes with its own nuances. first, set clear expectations. clarity on deliverables, deadlines, and process can eliminate misunderstandings. communication is crucial. cultivate a culture where open dialogue is encouraged. remember, it's not just about work, it's also about human connection. tools are your allies. utilize project management and collaboration software. it simplifies coordination and keeps everyone in the loop. promote a sense of autonomy but be there for support. trust your team to do their work, yet be available when they need guidance. finally, remember everyone's remote journey is different. acknowledge their challenges and celebrate their wins, however small. building a culture of empathy can do wonders for your team's morale and productivity. keep iterating on your strategies. what works today might need tweaking tomorrow. after all, adaptability is at the heart of remote work. all the best mate,! 🙌

Well, all of my time is remote. The biggest change I made is to do effective productivity monitoring. Earlier I used a third party tool but eventually I thought this was so important that I built my own. It's a product that I am slowly growing https://getdoteam.in

Hi Hashir, I'm Michael, I've been managing remote development teams since 2009 when I first started working with Hyderabad. Here are some tips on how to manage a remote development team efficiently: -Set clear expectations and goals. Make sure that everyone on the team understands the goals of the project and what is expected of them. This will help to ensure that everyone is on the same page and working towards the same objectives. This means you need to have a backlog, a roadmap, & constantly be pushing people to validate they understand what you've already documented & outlined as the expectation. Once the task is complete review it against the request. It shows your team how to achieve success. Just follow the directions. -Use the right tools. Communication is key to managing a remote team effectively. Make sure that you have a start of week sync up with your team to discuss the goals & unresolved issues from the previous week. Then another backlog grooming to discuss any current unanswered questions or new learnings from the current work before moving on to discuss what's next. At the end of the week have a more casual demo meeting that is conversation. Review the work in demos and talk about customer problems and ideate on the demos & how to make them better. -Use video conferencing tools to stay connected. Try to get the guys to turn on cameras. Seeing each other helps. Also jokes now & then go along way. -Make a Slack & use it often. -Provide regular feedback. This will help your team members to stay motivated and to improve their performance. -Celebrate successes. Gratitude is a universal language. I hope those tips will be helpful to you. Just remember when managing a team giving clear direction is the best way to get people moving in the same direction. If issues still persist after clear direction then find a second team & goto the friendly competitive' strategy so to apply more incentive for the team to improve it's delivery. Be careful with this approach if you take it, you ultimately want to create trust but if you can't trust a team to complete the task effectively than you need to introduce some signal that if they can't do the job you'll need to find someone who can. Shame less self promotion. My company OLY.AI is launching in August. We'd very much appreciate a follow & upvote if you like our work. Thx. https://www.producthunt.com/prod...

To manage a remote team effectively, prioritize clear communication, set expectations and goals, use collaboration tools, establish regular check-ins, and encourage a supportive team culture. Provide resources for professional development, ensure work-life balance, and trust team members to take ownership of their tasks. Embrace flexibility while maintaining accountability and recognize achievements to boost morale and productivity.

One of the biggest challenges of managing a remote team is the lack of face-to-face interaction. This can make it difficult to build trust and rapport with your team members. However, it's important to remember that your team members are professionals who are capable of doing their jobs. Give them the trust and autonomy they need to succeed, and they'll be more likely to be productive and engaged.

Managing a remote team, huh? Basecamp or Slack, take your pick. Both are solid for team comms. Also, check out Trello for task tracking.
These are some of the things which helped me- 1. Set clear goals. 2. Communicate regularly. 3. Trust your team. 4. Be flexible. 5. Celebrate successes

Jira + Teams/Slack+Confluence/Notion for a small team is enough.

We have a fully remote team across the world and go completely office-less since pandemic, I found the most effective way for managing the remote team is to build an internal communication portal to make most of the communication public and async with everyone in the team. Instead of using email, slack, we use old school discussion board with some customized features (e.g. vote, checklist, etc.) and it works great.
