Hiw are academic and researchers using AI powered tools?

Hey guys, I am currently working on a open-source AI image generation tool but I would like to know how are the researchers and academics using AI tools for their world? Apart from chatGPT and other LLMs, are there good tools that any academic would suggest that could be used for research work? cheers
