The best practice for closing a project depends on how often you want to update key stakeholders.
As a project manager closing a project is crucial. But do you prefer to give updates after each milestone or at the end of the project?
...here are some tips in both occasions...
Conducting a closing process after each milestone :
β’ Refer to prior documentation (SoW, RFP, Risk Register, RACI chart)
β’ Put together closing documentation (closed out reports)
β’ Conduct administrative closure of the procurement process (close contracts, conduct any final payments to vendors, retrieve any deliverables to contracted workers)
β’ Ensure all stakeholders are aware that a phase is ending. (sending an email)
β’ Execute follow-up work
Conducting a closing process at the end of a project :
β’ Provide the necessary training, tools, documentation to use the product (manuals, how do guides)
β’ Ensure the project has satisfied goals and outcomes
β’ Document acceptance from all stakeholders (project completion document or retrospective)
β’ Review contracts and documentation
β’ Conduct a formal retrospective

Hey there fellow project manager! π
When it comes to project management, proper planning is key, right? But let's not forget about the epic finale β closing that bad boy efficiently! π Whether you prefer to update stakeholders after each milestone or wait till the end, here are some tips to nail that closure:
For those milestone closers:
π Dive into prior docs like SoW and RACI charts.
π Get those closing reports ready.
πΌ Tie up loose ends with contracts and payments.
π§ Shoot that "phase complete" email.
π Don't forget the follow-up hustle!
And for the end project enthusiasts:
π Equip stakeholders with all the tools and manuals.
π― Check off those project goals.
ποΈ Get acceptance from all parties.
π Double-check contracts and paperwork.
π Wrap it up with a formal retrospective.
Remember, it's not just about getting it done, but closing it like a boss! πΌπ₯
