Functionality, but complication vs. focused, but ease of use

Hello everyone, as part of adding a new feature to the product, I was thinking about whether I was heading in the right direction. A feature will make the product more functional, but will complicate the understanding of the interface and increase the difficulty of learning it. Do users need additional complexity and new functionality? Or is it more important to improve the existing functionality and, on the contrary, reduce the complexity of working with the product? I understand that balance is important. But which of the two sides is still more important in your opinion? I will be glad to comments.
