Find a Hunter or Hunt product by myself? What's your choice?

Should I find an excellent hunter to hunt my product or just hunt it by myself? What are the pros and cons of these two strategies? Please leave your suggestion.

A hunter is nice to have but it isn't a requirement to be successful. Product hunt changed its notification system, so followers of the hunter aren't getting email notifications about the launch anymore. If you still have a hunter, check out https://upvote-bell.com/leaderboard

@fabian_maume It's still useful in a way. If your hunter is a prominent VC, they're gonna notify their network of your launch.

@fabian_maume Fabian, according to your kind advice, we just hunted Gemooo beta ourselves here:https://www.producthunt.com/post.... We will be so grateful if you could give us some support or feedback here.
Launching soon!
I prefer to build a community on PH and hunt for my product.

I have hunted our product for both of our launches. Here's the thing: a top hunter is hard to reach. Yeah, you can reach out to them on Twitter, but they get loads of messages daily and ignore most of them. I did spend some time trying to get a hunter for our first launch, and it was just a waste of time. I guess getting a hunter only makes sense if you know your product is a perfect fit for this particular hunter's interests and you are confident you can pitch your product really well to this person. Oh, and connections matter too. You'll often need somebody to introduce you to a top hunter. Mid-level hunters are easier to connect with. Maybe I'd go for a mid-level hunter if I had an account with a few points, but then again, isn't it easier and more convenient to spend some time developing your account, making connections and then hunting your product?..

@margarita_s88 thx a lot, it's really hard to find a top hunter who totally interested in our product and wanna support it, maybe a mid-level hunter or hunt it myself would be a better choice.

@margarita_s88 Hi, Margarita. Thanks again for your suggestion. We've hunted our product by ourselves yesterday, and it will be so helpful if you could support us there: https://www.producthunt.com/post.... If you want to give it a try and offer us feedback, we would be so grateful!

Great question, been skimming through a lot of guides and am still undecided on this specific topic. Thanks everyone for sharing
