Hi all. I'm new here and I'm looking for a place to validate, receive feedback and share my (product) idea. I hope this forum is a good first step in introducing my idea and product to maybe later launch it on Product Hunt. Disclaimer: the problem I'm trying to solve might only target myself, I don't know. So please provide feedback if this would be the case. I'm a big fan of creating lists, a todo-list and a good calendar. With good calendar I mean: - use clear title and add an emoji to categorise or make the item more recognisable - has the correct duration and start/end time - if location is needed, the location is added I also share my calendar with my family and not everyone is always doing it very strict. Or even myself, when I have little time, add a calendar item quickly without adding all the information. That is why I created a Google Calendar add-on that does this for me. I created multiple configurations that, based on the title, enhance (called actions) the calendar item automatically. When I for example add "Tennis" in the agenda it will automatically change the duration to 1u30, add the location and edit the title to "🏓 Padel". When I add "Call Thomas" to my agenda. Based on "call" in the title I will change the duration to 30m and edit the title to "☎️ Call Thomas". You could also look at these configurations as templates for Google Calendar. Based on the keyword in the title the template gets applied. You can install it (unlisted on marketplace) here: https://workspace.google.com/u/1... You can see an example here:
Or on the website: https://www.jeroenvdb.be/emotify... I'm always thinking, this is very handy but after a few minutes I'm back to: no-one will ever use it. What would be a good way to find out if people find this handy? Launch on Product Hunt? I already shared it with a few friends and I'm hoping to hear from them if they like it. If I would -really- put this out I would also like to have some monetisation model behind it, not to make big money but hey, why not? I was thinking of giving people 5 configurations for free and ask for a one-time $5 for unlimited configurations. Is this a good idea or should I definitely go for a recurring monthly price? Thanks already for all the feedback! PS: the name Emotify Events comes from the fact that it first started with just putting emoji before the title. Is this an OK name? Or should it be more broad? Like "Enrich Events" or maybe "Event Templates"?
