Does it make sense to try a new social media platform?

This is a reflection on the experience with the "revived" Bluesky social network.
I can’t tell whether it will last another week (and fade away after that) or thrive for an entire decade.
If your goal is personal use, I highly recommend joining – it allows you to connect with specific people on a more personal level.

The bottom line:
A social media platform with over 25 million users, predominantly in the U.S. market, has the potential to be worth giving a try.
Have you tried it yet?

I think a lot of people will use both BSky and X. X is mature, and the discussions there are better. If you're big on X, it means something, whereas BSky is bot-heavy with nascent discussion, and so your presence on BSky may not give you the same good experience in the near term.

@toby_rowland Do you expect that Bsky will be unsuccessful?

Something about social media will be tomorrow in my newsletter:

Launching soon!
I'm currently experiencing the same thing. I can't decide whether to try Bluesky, or just stick to X.
BSky is newer but gaining traction. X has mature convos but BSky could catch up. I'd say use both for now - build your X presence while exploring BSky's potential. See how discussions evolve on each before going all in on one. Choice is a good problem to have in social media!

Like the American businessman Kevin Rollins once said: "I believe that one-product wonders come and go."...
Yes, I've tried it:

@busmark_w_nika Yes, but to be accurate, I've found you first on Substack ;)
