Does Gender-Really Matter (for product)?

Hey friends! 70-80% of our users are women (I guess women just like journaling in general). Would you be more likely to buy something marketed specifically for your gender, or does it not make a difference? Your input will help us decide how to position our launch. Thanks!

I think whether gender matters really depends on your target market and product positioning. If 70-80% of your current users are women, you may want to lean into that and tailor the product experience and marketing more towards women. But totally ignoring the 20-30% of men could limit growth. I'd suggest looking at engagement and retention data by gender to see if men are using the product differently or churning at a higher rate. That could inform how much to shift positioning vs keeping it somewhat gender neutral. Also consider surveying users on what appeals to them about the product to see if gender-specific vs neutral value props resonate more. The bottom line is numbers don't lie - follow what the data tells you while being thoughtful about alienating a core user segment. Hope this helps provide a framework to tackle this strategically!
