I have seen it help with customer retention. If customers provided feedback in the past about product features and fixes, it demonstrates that the company is listening. The roadmap provides clear visibility on where the product is headed and customer appreciate being in the loop. However, the downside- if the company is headed in a different direction and ignores the feedback this can result in customer churn. If customers feel that the product will not address raised concerns they will go out to look for a product replacement.
