Imagine the next time you go to buy some chips for lunch but the retailer gives you monthly amd yearly option to purchase π€ ok, 10% could be some good deal but you just want one little bag! sounds like a misfit model, isn't it? π
In the commemts, name the product you think it shouldn't be on subscription model rather be on pay-per-use or some other model π

Interesting conversations are hard to find here.
On the topic, yes, I do think that way for some products. recurring is definitely good long term but some products just don't require them and people still try to fit them into that product.

As a user, ALWAYS! The subscription model is detrimental to any adoption, whether B2B or B2C. As an entrepreneur in software, it's difficult to think of another model nowadays since it solves and scales many problems and it's more sustainable. The trick is getting the price right and not overcharge.

That's a very interesting topic to me. Absolutely, we have been thinking about this at Transcriptmate.com. What else should we offer on a pay-per-use basis? Perhaps something like Canva? I'm not a regular user, but sometimes I need Canva, and then I purchase one month of access and then cancel it. I would prefer to have the option to use specific pro features or graphics and pay-per-use. Another example that comes to mind is streaming platforms. Sometimes you don't want the entire catalog of movies, just one specific title. I hope there are many more examples like these.

What's worse, many services/SaaS are now eliminating monthly plans, thus leaving the option of an annual plan only for customer retention reason I think.
maybe our product should have a day pass model... because it is an AI relationship coach, not only for love but also for parenting, your relatives etc.... I think 3-7 day pass during the holiday season would be really interesting.. you can manage time with your ''toxic family'' better during your trip home :D
