Lately, I've seen a lot of discussion on X about why you should have an audience to become a top 3 product in PH. While I think this could be true, there is also the option that the audience doesn't resonate with the product, and you don't get that many upvotes What is your experience? what have you seen?

Yes, having an existing audience can significantly boost our chances of success on Product Hunt.

It's very necessary no matter the assumptions! You'll always need audience to get the top of the chart

@rhexai I agree with this, but there are probably other ways to get to the top, too?

You can't win any show unless you know where you are lacking of.

Having an engaged audience can definitely give you a head start, Borja, but don't underestimate the power of Product Hunt's community to spot and elevate great products. Focus on presenting your product's value clearly, and the audience will follow!

Hi Borja, In my experience, having an audience can definitely give you a boost on Product Hunt, but it's not the sole determinant of success. While having an engaged audience can help generate initial traction and upvotes, ultimately, the quality and relevance of your product play a significant role.

@priyankamandal that's true, without a good product you can't go to the top

I think so. Or have a good marketing team. But I think there's less utility if your audience and your ideal customer don't really overlap. Sure, you'll get upvotes, but will you get customers?

@russ_halilov how are you trying to build one?

You don't want audience. You want super fans.

@atticusli best answer An audience that doesn't support you is not really helpful

@solerbor Our biggest competitor went under earlier this month because they were paying for impressions and not actual conversions of sales. Audience will just watch, but fans will follow you any where

A solid differentiator is better than a community. If you have it, you can leverage that and get a good hunter for instance. There are no absolutes on PH

Yes, as far as what I've seen, the majority of top products tend to have founders with large communities!
