We've all seen them - those scathing one-star reviews on Yelp or Amazon that make us second-guess our purchasing decisions. But how much weight should we give to negative reviews, and are they truly representative of a product's quality?
In this poll, we're researching the prevalence of online review bias. We want to know: when you leave a review, do you tend to lean more towards the positive or negative end of the spectrum?
Your participation in this poll will help us gain insight into the consumer mindset when it comes to online reviews. Do we trust negative reviews more because they highlight potential flaws, or do we give more weight to positive reviews because they indicate overall satisfaction?
So, take a moment to think about your own review-writing tendencies, and let us know where you fall on the spectrum. Your input could help change the way we think about online reviews and the role they play in our purchasing decisions.

Depends on the product and the experience. I never leave a "neutral" review but if someone has done something drastically different from what I'm used to (positive or negative), then I leave a review.

@between_team Same here, neutral reviews don't seem to be helpful. Are you trying to say that you only leave reviews if something is either extremely bad or extremely good?
I don't see the point of leaving negative reviews online. It's not worth my time, effort or energy.
I don't hesitate to support things I love. Positive reviews can make someone's day.
It's so much more than spotlighting a product or service.
@thisismeihere I, myself would agree, if I had a terrible experience I simply want to forget about it as soon as possible and not leave a review. However, leaving negative reviews can help other people a lot. Perhaps they can be even more useful than the positive ones
I generally strive to post internet reviews that are more positive than negative. I want to tell people about a positive experience I had with a product or service in order to promote the company. However, I believe it's necessary to provide an honest review if I had a bad experience. Having said that, I always strive to be objective in my reviews and offer helpful critique as opposed to simply disparaging a good or service. In the end, I think that submitting evaluations is beneficial for both customers and businesses since it promotes open communication and marketplace confidence.
@stewalker007 I think this is the best approach to take. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but it can help other users/ customers a lot. Thank you for sharing your opinion!
I tend to leave more positive reviews online. I think it's important to acknowledge and appreciate good service and products, and to share that positive experience with others. That being said, if I have a negative experience, I will also leave a review. However, I try to be constructive and fair in my criticism, and provide suggestions for improvement. I think online reviews can be a powerful tool for both consumers and businesses, and it's important to use them responsibly.
@dia_wash_nj Thank you for your feedback Diana! So far, based on the replies to this post, we can see that people mainly leave positive reviews. That makes me think that many ratings that we see online might be slightly overoptimistic.

It depends on the product. If it is a local brand, I like to leave a positive review to provide some help. However, if I have had an issue with the product or service and the support team did not respond, I may consider leaving a negative review.
@cancan_aime Thank you for sharing your opinion! I think this is a good point. Leaving good reviews for smaller companies can indeed be very helpful for them.
