Did YouTube Shorts become cool suddenly?

I have a pretty strong YouTube channel for Internet marketers (youtube.com/@teknikforce) but I never fancied making Shorts much.
- They get a lot of shallow viewership without engagement
- People who usually watch shorts don't watch long form content
- They drag down the watchtime of the channel
So they weren't good for us... That's what I thought.
But YouTube changed the game today. Now Shorts can directly be linked to a Long video and you can send the traffic from the Short to the Long video... Wow!
Do you guys create on YouTube? What is your thought about Shorts.
