I am considering building a community for travelers and tourists with the goal of connecting them with locals to provide authentic experiences and reduce their reliance on traditional travel agents and their commission-based recommendations. Do you have any suggestions or advice around it ?

love the idea. travel isn't just about places, it's about people. locals unlock the magic. start small. maybe focus on one city or region. create a proof-of-concept. curate experiences. not just "what to see," but "how to see it." detail matters. use existing platforms initially. think facebook groups, discord. then build your own space. authenticity is currency. make sure the experiences are real, not just Instagrammable. always vet the locals. trust is your backbone. without it, the community crumbles. consider adding a "pay-what-you-want" model. keeps the door open, but allows for value exchange. safety protocols are non-negotiable. make sure everyone understands the rules. feedback loop. always ask travelers and locals what worked, what didn’t. iterate. community grows through word of mouth. deliver amazing experiences, and they'll bring their friends. ✈️

Great idea @nischal_nayak, I joined the community! +1 for finding authentic experiences and organizing vacations without travel agents This is especially important for families with kids travelling on a budget. I use blog posts from other families who travel as my main source of inspiration. I collected a lot of them here. This can be helpful to other parents
