Lean Startup all the way. Faster iteration, less waste. You'll never know if something works unless you try it yourself and give it a fair chance. If it doesn't work, switch to another idea. Successful startups have early user traction - you'll feel right away if the idea's good or not.

When society was not evolving at a fast pace, businesses made 5-year and 10-year plans. As the world started to change at a faster rate, it became necessary to shorten the feedback loop of product iteration in order to be in sync with market needs. imho in order to build something of value in today's time, being lean is of utmost important so that you can adapt with the ever changing world.
