As a team lead, how do you get feedback from your teammates on your performance?

I lead software dev interns at work, guide them and help them work a straightforward path to taking Software development as a full-on career. I also lead a niche-engineering team. Sometimes, I question my methods of delivery, and it would be really helpful to know how I am doing as a leader. The question is, how do you know you are doing well or not so well? How do you know you are doing poorly?

Just feel relax Talk about it with your team, if any improvement on themselves, and Review the results. then Measuring Team Improvement and Team Job Result. And Keep It Simple.

@jonzhang Talk about it with your team, and review outcome. Thank you Jon! I'm launching a product soon for anonymous reviews in the workplace, you should definitely check it out here https://www.producthunt.com/prod... :)

I think as team lead, you hold some form of authority over other team members that can breed biased favorable feedback due to the power dynamics involved. So what's important is requesting negative feedback exclusively rather than asking neutrally. So rather than "please give your feedback on what I can do to improve or how I'm doing" You can ask: "what have I done for the past few projects that you disliked?" and allow them to submit feedback anonymously. This way, you're guaranteed to get only feedback you can improve on. It might not feed good getting only negative feedback, but it's the only way you'll grow.

@richard_gao2 I love your perspective of getting negative feedback from your team members. To be fair, most of the team members would end up saying something good to stay on the good side. I would definitely try this out whenever I need constructive feedback, Thanks Richard! @favour_felix Thanks! I have a project in the works too as well, but it'll be some time before I release. If you follow me it'll probably show up once I release. Good luck on your project!

I think anonymous review forms or files of some kind where they can freely express their honest opinion can really help you get valuable feedback. However, I think the honesty probably also depends on the size of the team as well. If your team is quite small, people might still feel like you'll be able to trace the feedback back to them

@jason_andries1 Haha, fair point with the small team size. But anonymous reviews are brilliant and will always be. Thanks for your input, Jason. Much appreciated! Launching soon!
I get feedback from my teammates on my performance by reviewing their notes and asking them what areas of the work I should focus on improving. I also try to give them regular updates about how their work is going, so that they know what areas of the project need more attention.

@qudsia_ali Thank you Qudsia. I'm curious though, when you say notes, what do you mean? Do you ask your teammates to make notes about your performance?
