Are you focussed at work?

How do you stay focussed at work? Naturally? Earphones on? Sprints and breaks? Continuously multitask? Recently I started timing myself. For example - 45 minutes to finish one task, 5 minute break, 45 minutes on another task, etc.

Earphones make me get in the zone and forget everything surrounding me. Obviously don't play something distracting ;)
Not really - I like new shiny things!

When I work, I turn off notifications, also focusing on my work and goal. I relax when I tire.

@arm_aaup2 I have a friend who does the exact same! :-) I tried it for a while myself but it didnt make a big difference for me, so I changed to 45/5 min sprints

Yes, I am focused at work. Sometimes I even forgot to eat food while working from home. I will definitely try your method, it sounds good to me.
Daniel Po
@jaskiran_kaur and that doesn't happen to you in the office? interesting!
Jaskiran Kaur
@daniel_pt In office, like someone needs help or needs the document then I get distracted but during work from home, I rarely got distracted. But I will say I will always prefer Office because of socializing.

@jaskiran_kaur oh yeah i see what you mean. i really like working from home because its so convenient and no commuting and stress, but the socialising part definitely is missed.

- Headphones in - Nothing on my desk but laptop, wireless charge station, hand cream and a mug - 50/10 or 25/5 cycles, depending on the task volume (tracking via my Galaxy Watch) - If I'm stuck on a task atm - abandon it and do 1-2 cycles of something else until inspiration comes back That's the setup keeping me focused right now. Tends to change every couple months or so.

@justana "If I'm stuck on a task atm - abandon it and do 1-2 cycles of something else until inspiration comes back" - thanks for the tip. :)

My work hours and activity are logged with TMetric time tracker, that's why knowing that time is recorded makes me be productive and focused on the tasks. Breaks are a must-have and I take a few about 15-20 min each.

Always earphones on as I need my zone to work and yes I also take breaks while doing work but most of the time I don't know I feel overwhelmed as if I am not doing anything on the day as everything seems pending.

@mahak "I feel overwhelmed as if I am not doing anything on the day as everything seems pending." - same here sometimes.
Daniel Po
@mahak Oh yeah I can definitely understand what you mean, and it honestly sounds a lot like imposter syndrome :-) I think that's another reason I like breaking down my day by time and tasks, so that as it goes by I can see what I have done and what's next, by priority

@mahak @daniel_pt "breaking down my day by time and tasks" 👍 I'm learning it. I definitely prefer to focus on one thing for a longer time. Then I feel like I've made progress.

@daniel_pt @w_j I am learning the same thing. I have recently started using this planner weje.io where I mostly write the tasks that I need to do on that day and if that work is in pending I try to put them on pending list so at least there is a proper sort in between tasks and yes gives me the sense that I tried to do something today, not completely useless.
