During the Y Combinator Kickoff event, Sam Altman of OpenAI emphasized to founders the importance of anticipating rapid advancements in AI technology. He advised founders to adopt a forward-thinking approach in their ventures, considering the possibility that technologies like GPT-5 and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) could be realized soon. Does this change anything for you and your product? Are you already planning for it? Or is it too soon? Do you feel like it might make your product obsolete? AGI is wishful thinking at best. Having spent a lot of time working with various AI tools such as ML, NLP and LLMs, and working with some very senior computer scientists, AGI may never happen. This is tilting at windmills. Do some deep research, understand cognitive science and you'll come to see why AGI is a myth. Put aside your stakeholder biases and be sure to use critical thinking.
