What is the most engaging marketing strategy, email, social media or personal?

I recently launched industrial software and thought social media marketing would be most engaging but it was not right for me (may be right for you)! and I found my software needs personal door to door marketing as it needs trust of costumers. Then I found out for different product different marketing techniques should be used. Whats your opinion?
