I applied to an apartment on Sunroom Rentals wanting to move to Austin TX in one month. On the application, the move in date was listed as June 13th to July 13th. I selected July 13th because that’s when I was able to move. After answering their questions, filling out pet profiles, guarantor profiles, and other correspondence with the company, they let me know that the latest move in date was June 29th. Which I was confused because in the application I wrote July 13th and no one said anything in the previous correspondence. I was not able to move in that early and the company was not flexible at all. They said usually it takes people 2 weeks or so to turn in paper work so that’s why the move in date was that range, in all actuality the company could only hold it for 2 weeks after the paperwork was submitted. They punish people for turning in things promptly? So I asked for a refund on the application and the woman on the phone said she would contact me later in the day letting me know what the leasing agent said. No response. I called 2 days later and the same woman flatly said “we’re not able to give you a refund”. And her reasoning was that I was working with a real estate agent who should have notified me of their 2 week policy? Someone without an agent would have encountered the same issue going through their website. Overall the two condescending phone calls I had made me not want to rent with this company and tell others it’s a bad idea as well.
