As someone who studied the sharing and gig economies in grad school, who has run a marketplace and another sharing economy business, and who has been both a gig worker and a user of gig services over the years, I believe Shelby and Zach are doing something desperately needed: bringing not just trust and accountability but also transparency and equality to this space. Companies like DoorDash screw everyone but their shareholders, and I am glad that startups like Jolly are going for something much more ethical and sustainable. Jolly was in my Techstars cohort and I consider myself privileged to have been in the founders presence for a few brilliant months.
