I've been searching for a notes app like this for ages. Since I use macOS, Linux, and iOS (on an iPad and iPhone) on a daily basis and need access to a note taking app that supports Markdown and MathJax, this checks all the boxes. For a while now, I've been using Bear and MWeb alongside each other, but it's tedious to be split between two notes apps.
I was initially concerned about performance and memory usage since the desktop client is Electron based. However, to my surprised, it only uses ~75-100 MB (compared to Bear which is hogging a whole 480 MB right now and MWeb which is using 140 MB). Boot up time is about 1.5x slower as MWeb and Bear, but *no where* near many other Electron-based applications like Slack and Discord.
Despite how fantastic Inkdrop is, the mobile application is definitely lacking at the moment. However, the developer is aware of this and is currently working on essential features like attaching images, universal support, and stability. If you plan on using this app solely on your mobile device, prepare for a bit of a rough experience. However, be sure to report all of your bugs to the developer, since he has a tendency to respond immanently and fix bug incredibly quickly.
Additionally, since the product is still mildly young, it's still missing some essential features (like Markdown import, but it does support HTML import from Evernote). That said, it has very robust and moderately well documented scripting support, so I was able to write a script to import my Markdown documents from Bear and MWeb fairly quickly.
All in all, this is a rapidly growing product with a bright future ahead of it. If you are looking for a cross platform, robust, and flexible Markdown note taking application, this is for you.
