I picked up The Pitch pre-gimlet and have enjoyed it from day one. It only keeps improving. This is one of my top goto podcasts when stuck in traffic. Entertaining and I tend to learn something in each episode on how either investors or entrepreneurs think and react.
This podcast follows in line with many of the other great shows from Gimlet Media. Josh does a great job hosting and the investors each bring their own take with their investment theses so you get multiple points of view. It's one of the podcasts I look forward to each week.
Love this podcast and Start-Up from Gimlet
Having been one of the entrepreneurs to be featured on their podcast "Can Tech Solve America’s Drug Crisis? (#37, inRecovery)", I can tell you the incredible experience this was.
I was introduced to Josh Muccio through my accelerator, Startup Health. From the very first conversation, Josh was so energetic and positive and fun. His passion for his podcast (which he started before Gimlet acquired him) was really inspiring. As an entrepreneur himself he really understands what his featured startups are going through. So he does an excellent job at curating great entrepreneurs to come and pitch on their startup.
I flew up to SF for the recording in February 2018, met them at a super cool studio and it was on. The investors started rolling in one by one and you start getting a little nervous as it starts hitting you that it's game time.
The recording process was actually extremely fun. All the investors are highly respected in the tech space - you don't get this type of face-to-face with this caliber of investors every day.
All super friendly, having their cup of coffee and ready and excited to talk to you. Even Michael Hyatt, who is characterized as the hard ass on the show, is actually SUPER nice and an amazing human being.
We recorded for about an hour, the dialogue was much like what you'd have in an actual conference room with a VC firm. This is what's so unique about The Pitch, it's real. Very real. This is the closest you'll get to being a co-founder and sitting behind closed doors at a VC's office. Such a unique and rare experience - so if you're an entrepreneur, or thinking about starting a business, or just love startup stories, definitely recommend The Pitch.
I'm very honored that Josh had me on the show and very thankful for the experience. You guys have a life long listener. I learn something new every time I listen. Keep it up!
Imagine two podcasts doing the same thing. Both with top notch investors, and interesting guests. What would make one show shine over the other?
My take on what makes The Pitch so good is, it's the editing. The producers have such a strong point of view on how to tell a story - about what goes down when a founder pitches investors - that it comes through in all aspects of the show. Theme music, narration, selection of investors and guests. The whole ball of wax comes together to be a top tier podcast. I've heard every episode.
some of the investors are truely exceptional and you learn the real issues of the investment community
We were introduced to Josh and The Pitch team by one of the former investor panelists and were quickly welcomed into the group. The whole process from beginning to end has not only been fun but beneficial. We're currently going through our first raise and have received commitments from investors along the way that we were connected to through this network and because of the positive response we got from investors on The Pitch! I'd highly recommend that any entrepreneur who has the opportunity to record an episode with Josh do so!
I was privileged to pitch my company on The Pitch and I sure witnessed what it means to be part of an amazing community that supports entrepreneurs all over the world.
I've been a big fan of The Pitch for awhile. It's a great way to learn from other entrepreneurs and also get insight into what investors are thinking. I was lucky enough to go on the show and found it to be a great experience. Josh, his team of producers, and the investors are all top notch individuals. Highly recommend!
