2 reviewsSo I've incorporated RSS feeds of various types into multiple aspects of my life over the past 15 years, from keeping track of news, companies I've invested in, friends/social activity and more but this is by far the BEST RSS app I've come across and it's completely free. From creating custom feeds back in the early days of Feedburner for my own info-collection as well as to help propagate the marketing message of my clients then to hosting my own feed aggregators on my homelab to trying just about every type of RSS application in between including ones I've had to pay for, this one wins. It even made swapping over my well-curated and categorized feeds from my self-hosted freshrss install a literal 15 second process. But it's not just an RSS aggregator. It is literally an application that let's you control, manipulate, save, ingest and SHARE any type of online content. From email newsletters to social media feeds (tweets? toots? yeah) to Github issue trackers, RSS feed creation for sites that don't even want you to have an RSS feed for their content, etc.. The list keeps going. Built in media player, multiple 3rd party app integration (like Obsidian), readability plugin, translation, AI integration to summarize not just a feed but whole categories of feeds if desired and even the ability to setup custom actions that can take any of the data, change it into whatever you want it to be and then push it back out to where you want it to go. Setup an action to monitor and notify you when someone mentions your product online. You know what, let's take that another step, take that notification, grab the username of who mentioned it and send off a personalized thank you. Let the AI go through and tell you what the stand-out or important pieces of news were today, yesterday, last week and have it be pulled from something you follow, or better yet, an entire category of content you follow so you can sift through all that noise and pick up on the data you need to know.
I've just spent 5 minutes writing up a bunch of cool stuff you can do with Follow.is but the beauty is that there still is a whole lot more. RSS use to be popular, every blog had a feed, every company wanted you to subscribe....then Google killed the reader and feedburner.. People stopped reading blogs and started listening to podcasts instead. People forgot what you can do with it. Follow literally is a case-study on what it can do for you. Use it to help with your marketing, use it to stay up on your news or sports, heck use it to know every time your ex-girlfriend changes her relationship status back to "single" and have it give a thumbs-up emoji on the post. You can do all of that, AND track those podcasts, youtube subs, email subscriptions, etc.. all in one space.
So there you go, I came back out of the ProductHunt dead to write about this, check my account history... yeah, i was there when it started and then promptly stopped using this site until now. This app has my endorsement because I want it to succeed. That way I can keep using it and not have to pay for 2-3 other apps to get the same type of work done.
